Jesus for President
July 1st, 2008 | Shows
Hey everybody. How's life in your world?
Things are great here, especially since I recently snagged an pretty awesome gig. The Ken Weatherford Band will be joining authors/speakers Shane Claiborne and Chris Haw at the Jesus for President Tour stop in Dallas, Texas on Thursday, July 17th. Shane Claiborne is one of my favorite authors (see Irresistible Revolution). For the release of his second book, Jesus for President, he and co-author Chris Haw are doing a national tour to promote the book. He has invited several independent musicians to join him at each stop, and we were chosen to play in Dallas. After reading his stuff, I really can't wait to meet him. If you are in the Dallas area, or even if you're not, come on out and enjoy some great music and speaking.
(Be sure to pick up a copy of the book before you come - it is a worthwhile read. Also check out Irresistible Revolution, a perspective-altering commentary on Shane's own faith walk. For the first time in a while, this book fired me up about getting to know Jesus.)
Anyway, there's another part to this whole story. Since we're taking the whole band on this trip, it's costing us quite a lot of cash money. And since there is no pay for musicians involved in the tour, we need YOUR help to get there. Our goal is to raise $800 to cover expenses such as gas and food. This is a great opportunity for us to share our music and ministry with a ton of people who may have never seen or heard of the Ken Weatherford Band before. Your help will not only enable us to get there and back safely, but also to present our message of bringing change to the church and hope to the hungry children of the world. So if you have $1, $5, $10, whatever amount, we would greatly appreciate the help. As a bonus, we'll send you a FREE download card for our newest project, The Middle Year, with a donation of $10 or more. Now that's a pretty good deal.

Thanks for being such great friends and fans. I hope to see you in Dallas.
