First Time
August 14th, 2006
So by no means am I much
of a writer, but I realy want to connect with people, and in today’s
world, the web is the way to do it. So I’m starting a Blog and it will
soon be linked to my website www.kenweatherford.com
(updates coming very soon). Anyway, I just got back from a retreat with
World Vision down in Houston, TX and it was absolutly amazing. I could
talk to you for hours about it, but in writting, I don’t want to bite
off more than I van chew, so I’ll just share a little.
Gathered in a circle in the hotel lobby sat 10-15
Indie recording artists from all over the country. (including one
George W. Bush Impersonator. Seriously, had you seen him, you would
have thought it was him) A few of us had guitars, others just voices,
and we all sat around sharing music and praising God. There was a
worship leader there who sat in with us and instead of taking the
spotlight, just sat back and let others lead. His name is Todd Agnew. I
was blown away by his heart. As an indie artist, when you think of
someone with a record deal, you almost atomatically asume that in some
way they have sold out. Not Todd, he is as real as they come. He
himself was an indie for 13 years before ever signing a deal. He played
a "Grace Like Rain" unwillingly out of our forceful requests. To hear
him live is a totally different expereince altogether than hearing his
album, especially when he is sitting just a few feet from you. He
opened up his heart to us in a moment of stillness in the worship. He
prayed. He just worshiped a God who as he said "wants to heal you." God
wants to humble our hearts, but the Father also wants to heal our
hearts. Don’t hang on to the pain in your past. Cry out to Jesus and
hand over your pride, your pain, your sin, you. He’s crying out to have
a relationship with you.
